The Fast and Furious star Paul Walker has had an uncountable amount of tributes paid to him on his birthday over the weekend, September 12. But, most importantly, his daughter Meadow took to Instagram to add her own tribute to the flood of respect that was posted online that day.
Paul died in December 2013 after the car he was a passenger in crashed only two months after he’d turned 40. He was also filming Furious 7 at the time, so his brothers Cody and Caleb Walker were used to keep his character, Brian O’Connor, in the film.
On the day of his birthday, Meadow posted the following photo and caption to Instagram.
“Happy birthday daddy, I love you,” she penned.
During the promotion of the most recent Film, Fast 9, Tyrese Gibson commented on what it was like to carry on filming after the loss of Paul:
“The first thing all of us were struggling with was, ‘What the hell are we doing here? What’s Fast & Furious without Paul?'” he told Digital Spy.
“And are we going to come off as just a bunch of narcissists that’s moving and proceeding and deciding what Paul meant to the franchise, and going to say, ‘We’re moving forward anyway’? So we had to become each other’s therapists.
“Because if you lose someone and you put it up on social media or the word gets out that you lost someone, you don’t want to hear from everybody – you want to hear from the people that knew him the most. So we made sure that we were there for each other in a real way.”
The final scene of Fast 9 shows the main cast being joined at the legendary Toretto home by a blue Nissan Skyline R34 – Paul Walker’s character’s signature car. Will we see Brian again in a Fast movie? We’ll have to wait and see.
