Sung Kang Reveals More About His Star Wars Character For Obi Wan Kenobi Series
Written by Alex Harrington

Sung Kang has given us a lot to think about as he reveals that he’ll be wielding a lightsabre in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Talking to Gizmodo, he discussed the upcoming Disney series where he’ll be starring alongside Star Wars veteran Ewan McGregor. the Fast and Furious actor has revealed that he’d be carrying his own lightsabre, adding to the rumours that he’ll be playing a member of the legendary Imperial Inqusitiorius.

He said the following:

“I used to dress up in the cheap K-mart plastic Halloween costumes, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, almost every single day from 8 to 13 years old.

“My friends and I would play pretend, we would make our own lightsabers out of toilet paper centers and stuff like that and paper towel cardboard, and to be able to be on set and see Darth Vader and see the Star Wars Universe in front of me, I mean — just as a fan to be able to be part of that history is pretty amazing.

“I kept pinching myself to go, ‘How did I end up here?’ and, my character has a lightsaber, to go, ‘What? This is… It’s not a toy. It’s actually the real thing, right?’ so pretty cool.”

Are you excited?

Here’s what Disney has to say about the upcoming series:

“Ewan McGregor returns in the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+. Officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of The Mandalorian, Season 1, and features the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.”

Hayden Christensen will also be returning as Darth Vader, and the series will be directed by Deborah Chow.
